Arse Sold
November 6, 2008 No CommentsIt’s Thursday and I did it. My arse is sold to the person at the rear. I managed to shift a few domains for £800 in BACS cash tomorrow. As you may recall, one payment of £500 was late and will be delayed until December, a £63 domain sale never materialised and £200 from a regular is still on stand by but I’ll wait. So I only really lost £63 this week, the £700 is still incoming at some point and I raised £800 thanks to the buyer, a pretty good midweek deal for both parties.
I was telling my mate when I got the message, that what I really love is negotiation, they all joke about the stalls in Morocco and elsewhere but bartering really does make buying and selling goods all the more worth while. It develops a relationship, the need for a product by the end user and the seller or middle man, it can be humerous, frustrating but all in all creates a little buzz once sale secured.
I had to sell an adequately sized bulk to secure the £800 but I have a new client, I have the cash – almost and I can look forward to another week of sales and another grand, if I keep this up I’ll be vat registering soon. I hope not. I like to make money when I need it but life is teaching me I should make it as quick as possible, yes most people realise that but as most people realise, I’m not most people.
I’d still like to secure some more deals this week and for the record, my arse isn’t really sold, I was simply painting a picture of my need for money and what I was prepared to do to get it this week, a metaphor. I dangled my wares in front of 75 people (if the emails ever arrived) and two communities this week and only one buyer realised the potential for negotiation and a good deal, strange bed fellows are domainers and developers.
Now to ensure the three days away in the Romanian mountains gets booked, I think €27 a night a room, can’t complain although I am thinking of sneaking us off to another for one night at €100 because we had planned to go there a month ago. It will take five hours to get there and probably five hours back…. Oh and also now to ensure my dues get paid, I didn’t see landlord Wednesday as was elsewhere far more important, wasn’t I darrrrrling.
