Too Late For Christmas
November 27, 2008 No CommentsAm I? Have I been a good boy? I’ve been ok but it’s not for me to judge. For years now I have kept missing Christmas with my websites, this year at least I thought about it although I feel I am going to fail again but I’m trying to catch up. By the end of next week I should have 150 websites in place, holding an average 20,000 products each across a few hundred merchants.
The idea is to have five million products attracting a sale a day across all sites which should result in at least £5 a day commission, it’s a low estimate as I already do £100 a month without doing anything and a further £150 from another partner contract so at £250 I’m at £8 a day. If I can add a further £12 a day, I won’t need to push domain sales much anymore so that’s the aim in the current climate, easy I should think.
Easier than trying to flog domains to cash rich businesses who think the credit crunch is a crisis rather than what it actually is and just a period where people with money think they can get a bargain from people doing as they’ve always done and selling what businesses need. It’s ok, I’ve been making colleagues laugh this week – you wait until this all brightens up a bit, they’ll come knocking and want domains and I’ll say “NO credit crunch innit.” watch the prices get hiked once it’s over, if they want to hold on to their money now, they can pay twice as much after.
Yes a target of £5 is low but it’s the regularity of one sale a day that will mean more to me at the moment. I tend to shift high end items, which see £15 to £30 commissions, a continuation of that trend on a daily basis would be good and nearer to my hopes of £1000 inbound, on top of the £250 and domain income and property rent.
My girlfriend has started working with me, learning the ropes – it’s not been easy, we haven’t been seeing each other long, several months but we’re determined to succeed no matter the disagreements caused by added pressure to a young relationship. It’s certainly got me working anyway, without her around I’d be mucking around still, it’s nice for someone in life to give you reason to do things and be motivated. Money always motivated me but it was the girl and the dreams that I always needed the money for, crazy eh!?!
Here’s to a profitable Christmas, I may not do much this side of new years however I have a feeling I may storm the sales. Search engines can be a bit fair like that with their updates and new content. I left it late again but at least I got off my arse and started to put in the ground work.
