Along The Same Lines

I know I’m good at what I do as I’m on a par with fellow domainers and see the results daily, I spend hours scanning lists ahead of the drop to ensure I get maximum potential out of what could be considered a few pages ripped from a dictionary. We’re not dot com domainers, we have one or two resources that do things for us, those dot com’ers only have to swipe a credit card in most cases. They couldn’t hack what we do on a daily basis.

Searching endlessly through lists either auto ran or manually is only one factor of domain catching, there’s at least another dozen checks to do, not forgetting the necessity to have the best tools at your disposal, some are admittedly better than others and not so easy to immitate or cheap and after all that is done, we have to market, develop, negotiate and plan after, far from easy!!

I’ll admit when on holiday or around the girlfriends I can take ten to twenty minutes to do a quick manual eye scan, pick the best and hope for the best but on other days I can be so meticulous you’d think I was swabbing up at a murder scene, sometimes it can take three hours to disect and turn over each domain that has meaning or statistical data to go with it.

Other domainers may laugh when reading this, the likes of *** who tell me in five minutes, “right nothing there, I’m off…” or ****** who seemingly does an auto scan for every hyphen going and ***** who knows full well what’s going to happen economy wise with four letters when this recession begins to recede. I try to cover all the bases and when we all see that £15,000 domain dropping we know full well it’s indecision time, leave it and go for the second best, leave everything and go for that or just chuck it in with the rest, why not…

Why not indeed, most of this game is chance, a chance ping and ding a ling ling, you’re in, jackpot, eureka, buy the kitchen, buy the car, book the holiday, we got it, we got it. So what did we all get? Friday 14th May was a domainer frenzy, my lists have been getting longer and longer leading up to yesterday and for one time only, you get to see it what I made of the drop list, interesting huh?

So here it is, an X if it got taken, a – if renewed and blank means still to reg, I have colour coded how I sorted my lists from importance to weakest link and it’s nice to see where I have placed domains in the most wanted section, they have been most wanted by most others.

So there you have it, a little insight into one day’s busy catching which tells me I think along the same lines as most others, just occasionally I wouldn’t mind looking deeper into their sales operations and finding out how they deal with stuff on that side but then again, I dare say I fair better than others on that too, I’m hardly Mr Average.

I did leave one list out and I hope you noticed, so peekaboo, I haven’t given you everything but I thought it might be fun to see another person’s picks of the day. People are always surprised when I say I select up to 150 names in a day, I can tell you some are happy going for three while a few others do the same as me, though probably more automated than with my tired eyes. Here’s another;

I hope you enjoyed that and regged what was left from Friday’s fun, I think the next time a buyer comes along and says “£50, you don’t deserve more, you didn’t do anything and just regged it ’cause I want it” I think I’ll point them to this article, this other one Domaining The Service; and then proceed to jump out of the window.
