GlobalSource.co.uk Sold
May 14, 2010 1 CommentSquillions has sold the domain GlobalSource.co.uk to Global Source Products Ltd. It was a no brainer for the company to wish to hold this domain due to operating off of the hyphen. We’re in a new age of domaining but it’s an old requirement. To understand read on.
The internet has been around for over ten years in an active business capacity, in that time trading names have been duplicated and added with roman numerals just to get on the world wide web and to trade. However in times of recession a lot of businesses go bust and this leaves their domain to be picked up and used by another party.
So Global-Products.co.uk survived, GlobalProducts.co.uk or similar may have not. It’s an absolute must that Global Products acquires this domain for several reasons, it knocks out the hyphen; while an hyphen is good for media advertising and seperating words, it does nothing for memory recall when mentioned phonetically- over the phone and radio but still holds great importance when product related and for seo.
Picking up any varient of a domain stops a rival from moving in and in this case when an adjacent domain has been held becomes available due to not being renewed , may well leave behind valuable traffic which can now be captured for the exisiting business.
Businesses cannot afford to fall asleep when it comes to trading on the net, the survivors of a recession need to keep an eye out for any opportunity to buy up domains that are dropping so as to increase their customer base off the back of a failed rival, even if not directly ‘trading name’ related, product or service related with existing traffic or good seo value is equally important.
Squillions.com catches domain names for clients.
